Much is said of Sheffield as being 'Post-Industrial'. It is, indeed, a sad reality that a large portion of Northern Industries - Steel, Coal, and Shipbuilding for example - have been destructed in recent decades.
It's hard to live in Sheffield without noticing the obvious decline of the Steel Industry, and the affects of this change on people's everyday lives. That's why, for a lot of the work that I do, the term "Post-Industrial" often fits.
From the lives that people live, to the work that people do and the landscape off the city itself, everything can be tied in some way to our Industrial past
However, I would argue that describing the cities and towns affected by this change as "Post-Industrial" overlooks the elements of Industry which remain.
